The Urbana City Council has unanimously approved funding to support staffing for an overnight shelter serving people experiencing homelessness in the area. Council members approved $37,000 to cover daytime staffing costs for the shelter located on East Park Street in Champaign. The shelter operates out of the former National Guard Armory and provides overnight accommodations during the colder months.
