DECATUR, IL. (WAND) - showers exit quickly this morning, leaving mostly sunny skies and pleasant conditions through the weekend

Central Illinois is in for a beautiful Thursday with comfortable temperatures and plenty of sunshine after a cool, foggy start to the morning.

A few showers are already moving out of the area and should be completely gone well before the morning commute. Patchy fog is possible early, but it will burn off shortly after sunrise, leaving mostly sunny skies for the rest of the day.

Temperatures will climb steadily throughout Thursday afternoon, topping out in the low 80s. With low humidity and northeast winds, it will feel comfortable — not hot or sticky.

Overnight Thursday into Friday will be noticeably cooler. Clear skies will allow temperatures to drop quickly into the low 60s, giving Central Illinois an almost chilly start to Friday morning.

Friday: Mostly Sunny With Evening Rain Chance

Friday will be another calm and sunny day with high temperatures in the mid-80s. Feels-like temperatures will be only a degree or two warmer than actual readings, keeping conditions pleasant throughout the day.

However, all eyes are on Friday evening. A weak upper disturbance will bring a 20-40% chance of showers and possibly some thunder area-wide as the sun sets. The models show a quick line of showers moving across the region toward sunset — meaning rain is at least possible just after high school football kickoff.

If you're heading to the stadium Friday night, bring an umbrella just in case. The good news: any showers or storms shouldn't last long, and the area should be dry overnight.

Weekend and Beyond

The weekend is shaping up calm and mild. Temperatures will stay slightly below average, reaching the upper 70s and low 80s through Monday of next week. No additional rain is expected until the middle of next week.
