DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - A broad sweeping cold front continues to work its way from north to south across the state. In advance of this cold front, some heavy thunderstorms have formed, leaving behind hail and strong winds.
The converging winds along the front will even kick up some blowing dust for a time. Hopefully, you had time to enjoy the warmest weather of the year-to-date earlier today. For some, it was the warmest March weather in recorded history!
The potential for severe storms will wane shortly before midnight, although rain and some thunder will linger into the wee hours of Friday morning.
In the wake of this cold front, 30-degree temperature readings will be commonplace. Now, factor in some non-thunderstorm wind gusts over 30 mph. It's the recipe for feelslike temperatures in the 20s/30s Friday morning, then upper 30/40s Friday afternoon.
A more tranquil weather weekend is in store.
Stay safe, stay warm and stay weather-aware.
