DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - Thunderstorms are likely to occur late this evening into tonight.
While it looks imposing around the 9 o'clock hour to the northwest of the Illinois River, a more stable atmosphere looks to settle in shortly after 10 pm, which is what actually brings the limitation to these storms.
The chance for severe weather dramatically increase as you move northwest, but communities that lie within the yellow shaded area (Slight Risk) need to pay close attention to radar this evening.
Wind and hail are forecasted to be the main threats, with tornadic activity not expected to be a widespread concern until you reach the Peoria area.
Severe weather chances are possible from 9pm until midnight and WAND Meteorologists will be in the studio tracking the storms to keep you in the know.
