DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) -Â It's been chilly of late, but clouds have kept the prospects of frost out of the forecast. That changes tonight.Â
The cold front that brought rain early this week is south of the Ohio River. In its wake, clouds started to thin earlier today. That trend will continue tonight. Factor in the lack of clouds along with little to no wind overnight, and a fresh, chilly source of air out of the Canadian Plains. The result is patches of frost outside larger towns, especially in the north.  Â
All of this should not be a shock, as we're just getting into the average date of the last frost of the season. Take care of that tender vegetation, stay warm and stay weather-aware as another dose of rain isn't too far away.
Happy Mother's Day!Â
