DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The Illinois State Police have officially charged the man who was pointing a weapon at people in Downtown Decatur last month. 

Michael Boliard, 54, was near E William Street with a loaded crossbow on April 22. 

Decatur police shot Boliard multiple times after he pointed the weapon at officers. He was then taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. 

ISP stated that Boliard was released from the hospital on Tuesday and was then taken into custody.

Boliard was charged with aggravated assault of a peace officer, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a controlled substance and armed violence. 

He is currently being held at the Macon County Jail until his first court appearance.
