Sunshine returns with high pressure

DECATUR, IL. (WAND) - Happy Tuesday! A streak of summery conditions is on tap for Central Illinois for the next few days. However, even when rain returns, it comes with even warmer air next week.

High pressure settles in over the region today, and it brings a settled pattern with it. We’ll be sunny and pleasant today with highs in the mid to low 80s this afternoon. Wear sunscreen as UV index values are very high today. Tonight, we remain clear, allowing temperatures to drop back into the mid-50s overnight.

Sunny skies and highs in the 80s continue through Wednesday, and only a few clouds build in on Thursday. However, a transition to southerly flow will bring more moisture and warm air by this weekend, and as high pressure departs, our next low will swing in. Light rain chances return Friday evening through Saturday. Our start to the week will be muggy and rainy.
