WAND Weather

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - A significant winter storm is moving across Illinois Saturday and will drop snow across most of central Illinois.

The WAND Weather team updated its snow forecast Saturday afternoon and now expects 6" to 12" for most of central Illinois. Areas south of I-70 could see 3" to 6".

Snow started falling in the western part of the state Friday night. Most of central Illinois has seen snow throughout the day Saturday. The fast-moving storm is expected to move out of Illinois by early Sunday morning.

Parts of southeast-central Illinois could see lower snow totals due to heavier, wetter snow and a possible change to rain.

Road conditions are expected to become dangerous and drivers are encouraged to allow extra time for travel or delays plans until a later time once the storm passes.
