After a line of strong storms moved through our area Wednesday afternoon, we are starting to get some reports in of how strong the wind was and some damage it did. The map below shows where those reports came from; you'll see most of them are centered around Bloomington.
Here are some of the reports that came in around the Bloomington area:
- Tree branches blown down on North Mason St.
- Wind gust of 51 mph in Towanda
- Large tree limbs down at the corner of W Mulberry St. and N Catherine St.
- Large tree branch down on Townley Drive in the Stevenson subdivision blocking the road
- Large spruce tree snapped off on Center Street in Normal
- Wind gust of 60 mph in Bloomington
There was a separate report from Piper City in northern Ford county where a six inch tree limb snapped half a mile south of US-24 on IL-115.
We are expecting more showers and storms overnight, but they should be weaker than what we saw this afternoon.
