DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — Macon County first responders competed for a good cause at the annual Guns and Hoses event on Saturday.
Guns and Hoses is an annual competition between police, fire and EMS workers in Decatur and Macon County to see who will raise the most money for the Salvation Army.Â
Deputy Sheriff Justin Lilly with the Macon County Sheriff's Department said it's not just friendly competition, but an opportunity to teach his daughter about giving back to the community.
"I brought my daughter down here and she's having fun. We love seeing the community and getting to tell everybody Merry Christmas while raising money," Lilly said.
Although Macon County first responders don't have any more scheduled days for bell-ringing, the Salvation Army will still be collecting donations.
