CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) — The heat limits bus services for students at Champaign schools.
The school district sent an email to all parents stating that due to the excessive heat warning, Unit 4 will be offering yellow bus service only to special education students tomorrow, August 27th. The district says those buses have air conditioning. They ask anyone who can take their child to and from school to consider doing so.
There will be no outdoor activities during the school day. District officials say there will be no outside athletic games or practices due to excessive heat. Coaches will contact those who need additional information.
District officials say parents and guardians can prepare their students by allowing them to wear loose-fitting clothing and sending water bottles to refill to keep them hydrated. They also add that they should monitor communication channels, including social media, email, the district website, and phone calls.
