DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - Local leaders gathered Wednesday to celebrate the early success of Decatur Moves, the area's rideshare-style transportation service.
Decatur-based Cass Concepts said in a release that the celebration and ribbon-cutting took place late Wednesday morning at 555 E. Wood Street in Decatur.
Decatur Moves has provided 24,713 completed trips and served 28,806 riders, averaging 450 rides daily in the two months since launching Sept. 8, according to the release.
Decatur Mayor Julie Moore-Wolfe emceed the event with speakers, including Deputy Director of Transit for the Illinois Department of Transportation Shoun Reese and Kevin Greenfield, chairman of the Macon County Board.
“This project represents what can happen when we all move in the same direction. From City and county leadership to our municipal partners, to state and federal representatives, today’s celebration reflects what collaboration truly looks like. Decatur Moves is more than a transportation option — it’s a shared investment in our people, our progress, and our future,” Moore-Wolfe said in a statement.
