CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) - The Champaign City Council approved a plan Tuesday to designate a portion of Chestnut Street as "Honorary Brandon Hardway Drive."

Hardway was the Pour Bros Taproom manager who was shot and killed outside the bar in February 2024.

Hardway was taking a break outside the bar when he was shot, and had been married just three months when he died.

His widow, Erin Hardway, thanked City Council members for taking the action to honor him.

"Brandon was a person who brought people together, someone who made strangers feel like friends, and always looked out for others. This street, located near a place he loved and where he made so many memories, would be a beautiful way to keep his spirit alive and to reflect on the kindness, inclusivity and joy that he brought to so many lives," Erin Hardway said.
