SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) — Illinois First Lady MK Pritzker will be visiting the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum next month to discuss her new book about the Illinois Governor's Mansion.
According to ALPLM, Illinois has one of the oldest and most historic governor's mansions in the country. During her husband's time in office, Pritzker has led efforts to preserve the mansion's history while also making interior spaces more welcoming.
The first lady will share stories about some of the mansion’s renowned residents and visitors – including Abraham Lincoln and Franklin Roosevelt – and explain how the building has changed with the culture and style of the times.
Pritzker will take questions from the audience and sign copies of her new book, “A House That Made History: The Illinois Governor's Mansion, Legacy of an Architectural Treasure.”
The program begins at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 4. Tickets are available in advance for $10 per person at presidentlincoln.illinois.gov/events. You may also purchase a copy of the book for $65. All proceeds will be donated to the Illinois Governor's Mansion Association to ensure its future upkeep and preservation.
