DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — A new addition to a Decatur park offers an opportunity for cycling growth among young people.
The Decatur Park District announced the opening of a brand new bicycle skills course for children at Fairview Park. The course is designed to help young riders gain confidence, improve balance and learn the rules of the road.
It features a variety of obstacles and challenges including gentle turns, balance areas and simulated street crossings.
"This new course is the perfect complement to our existing trail system," said Decatur Park District Executive Director Clay Gerhard. "It gives kids a fun and safe place to build confidence while providing families another reason to get outside and enjoy our parks together."
The course is next to the park's traditional bike trail, and is free and open to the public during regular park hours.
