DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - Local students helped support the Spirit of Giving.
On Friday morning, students from Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and School stopped by the WAND studios on West South Side Drive with a large donation of toys.
Support from students and families helped the school collect more than $1,000 for students in 1st and 8th grade to buy for the toy drive.
The annual event, now in its 16th year, benefits the Decatur and Macon County Toys for Tots program.
Last year, more than 7,800 toys were donated. Since the event started, it has collected more than 84,000 toys for children of central Illinois.
