The Springfield Muni announces 2026 season

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - The Springfield Municipal Opera (The Muni) is announcing its 2026 "Season of Love."

Five beloved musicals are coming, including, "Mamma Mia!," "All Shook Up," "The Prince of Egypt: The Musical," "Disney's Frozen: The Broadway Musical," and "Disney's The Lion King Jr."

Muni President Kevin Burke said, "Our 2026 season is one of love, which really goes to the heart of The Muni... From the volunteers who create magic behind the scenes to the families who fill our seats, The Muni runs on love. And this summer, we're celebrating that in every song, every story, and every show."

The 2026 season lineup is as follows:

Mamma Mia! : May 29-31 and June 3-6
All Shook Up : June 19-21 and June 24-27
The Prince of Egypt: The Musical : July 10-12 and July 15-18
Disney's Frozen: The Broadway Musical : July 31-August 2 and August 5-8
Disney's The Lion King Jr. : August 20-23

The Muni will also hold its 2026 Audition Workshop on January 31 at the Hoogland Center for the Arts. Adult auditions will be held Friday 21-22 and 28 with callbacks on March 1. Children's auditions are March 7.
