WAND December Educator of the Month

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The WAND December Educator of the Month is Brent Damery.

Damery is a fifth grade teacher at McClernand Elementary School in Springfield.

Here's an excerpt from his nomination:

It doesn’t take long after being a guest in his classroom to see why his students love him. He’s goofy, loud, clumsy, inquisitive and even funny to most 10-year-olds. He himself is a life-long learner, and I’m certain all his students walk away from his class full of Taki’s and knowledge that stays with them long after they’ve outgrown their youth sized class t-shirt signed with every marker color of the rainbow.

Damery's win came with a personalized plaque and $500.
