'Backpack Attack' returns to Decatur, over 2,000 packs filled with school supplies

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — The Decatur Family YMCA's annual Backpack Attack returns to area organizations this Saturday.

Over 2,000 packs have been pre-filled with school supplies for students entering grades K-6.

Students should be present to pick up the backpacks.

Packs can be picked up at the following locations from 9 a.m. to noon on Satuday, Aug. 3.

• Decatur Family YMCA

  • 220 W. McKinley Ave.

• OKO Community Center

  • 815 N. Church St.

• Boys & Girls Club

  • 859 N. Jasper St.

• Johns Hill Magnet School

  • 1025 E. Johns Ave (circle drive at west end; S. Maffit St.)

Backpacks will be distributed on a first come, first served basis.
