DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The Chicago Bears have finalized a deal with Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson to become the franchise's next head coach, according to Johnson's Agency.
Priority Sports announced the official decision in a post on X, Monday evening.

The details of his contract have yet to be made public.
ESPN's Adam Schefter said earlier in the day on Monday in a post on X announcing Johnson to Chicago the, "Bears are getting their man." In a follow up post, Schefter said Johnson has been working to assemble a "star-studded coaching staff" and named former Saints head coach Dennis Allen as a possible defensive coordinator in Chicago.

The Bears have not announced any additional hiring decisions.
NFL Network's Tom Pelissero also reported on X that the Bears were set to hire Johnson. Pelissero said Johnson was flying to Chicago "soon" and "contract parameters are in place."
Chicago is looking to replace fired head coach Matt Eberflus, who the team parted ways with mid-season.
Johnson, who has been the Lions offensive coordinator since 2022, had been considered one of the hottest coaches in the current hiring cycle.
