DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The Chicago Bears have fired offensive coordinator Shane Waldron amid a three-game losing streak and woeful offensive production.

The team announced the move Monday morning.

"After evaluating our entire operation, I decided that it is in the best interest of our team to move in a different direction with the leadership of our offense," head coach Matt Eberflus said in a statement. "This decision was well-thought-out, one that was conducted deliberately and respectfully. I would like to thank Shane for his efforts and wish him the best moving forward."

Waldron spent the last three seasons as the offensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks.

The Bears promoted passing game coordinator Thomas Brown to offensive coordinator. He is in his first year with Chicago after spending last season as the offensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers.

"Thomas is a bright offensive mind who has experience calling plays with a collaborative mindset," Eberflus said. "I look forward to his leadership over our offensive coaching staff and his plan for our players."

Since the Bears Week 7 bye, Chicago has lost three straight games. The offense has not scored a touchdown on 23 consecutive possessions and has scored just 27 total points in its last three games. The Bears rank 30th in passing yards, 24th in rushing yards, and 24th in offensive scoring.

Eberflus is in his third year as head coach and has won just 14 games. The Bears were 4-2 going into the bye week this season and the offense had showed signs of progress, but the bears now sit at 4-5.

They host rival Green Bay on Sunday.
