Business owner pays for layaway items

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) -- While many are worrying about paying bills this holiday season and budgeting their money to buy Christmas gifts, Santa Clause came early to Walmart in Champaign. 

The owner of Jimmy John's, Jimmy Liautaud decided to give back this holiday season and pay off all items that were put on layaway for Christmas. 

Walmart employee's say there were about 300 individuals who had items on layaway and that estimated around $80,000 worth. 

Liataud also donated to other locations in Champaign, Savoy and Urbana on Monday. 

At this time, Walmart employees are sharing the sweet nice to those individuals on layaway and measuring them that this is not a scam.Â
