MACON COUNTY, Ill. (WAND) – A camel deputies found wandering around near the highway has died, WAND-TV has learned.Â
Macon County Animal Control says it worked with deputies to chase down the camel after finding it at a location southeast of Interstate 72 and Route 48 and near a Pilot gas station. It was in a bean field when they first saw it.
Three deputies and a MCAC warden chased it down before getting it in position for the owner to lasso it and take it home. That person lives in the 4500 block of Forest Parkway in Decatur.
Deputies were unable to elaborate on when or how the camel died Monday evening when the station called to learn more.Â
