SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND)- On Tuesday, the American Federation of Labor, the Congress of Industrial Organizations, and the North American Building Trades Union celebrated National Apprenticeship Week by hosting the 8th annual Central Illinois Trades Career Day at the Bank of Springfield.

This day-long event showcases career opportunities in the building trades for high school students, trade school attendees, and college students. It features hands-on demonstrations and provides opportunities to speak with industry professionals about various career paths.

According to the AFL-CIO and NABTU Building Trades Unions, apprenticeships are a key reason that economic outcomes are improving for young adults without degrees, and they provide a clear career path for youth who are not interested in a four-year degree.
