CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) - The Champaign Fire Department successfully contained a fire at a commercial and multi-family apartment building Tuesday night.
At 8:40 p.m., firefighters responded to the two-story building located in the 100 block of East University Ave.
Once on the scene, crews said the structure's sprinkler system had been activated. CFD was able to locate and smother the fire found between the first floor offices and second floor apartments.
Firefighters made use of a single hose and kept the flames under control to where the fire originated.
Champaign Fire says the cause was accidental due to electrical equipment.
No firefighters or occupants were injured during the incident.
