MAHOMET, Ill. (WAND) — The three people who died after a Wednesday night shooting in Mahomet have been identified.Â
Police responded to the house in the 1100 block of Riverside Drive at 9:41 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting. Officers then found three people shot.
According to the Berwyn Police Department, the suspect, identified as John R. Lyons, 24, was shot and killed by police Wednesday night in the Chicago suburb.
Champaign County Coroner Laurie Brauer has released the names of three family members who were killed.
Janis L. Mason, 61, and Caleb M. Mason, 23, were both pronounced dead at the Carle Foundation Hospital Emergency Department in Urbana shortly after 10 p.m. Sara E. Mason, 26, was pronounced dead at the scene in Mahomet.Â
Their deaths are being investigated by the Champaign County Coroner’s Office, Mahomet Police Department, and the Illinois State Police.Â
Grace Church of Mahomet plans to hold a prayer vigil Thursday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in its sanctuary that is open to the public.Â
