Decatur, IL- A Decatur teen has been awarded nearly $8 million after a crash that happened last December.
15 year old Deonte Young suffered a traumatic brain injury after being seated in the backseat of a high speed car chase. Young will now function as a 5 year old child for the rest of his life, along with not being able to walk on his own for a long time.
The driver of the car, Floyd Banks, is serving his sentence at a Michigan prison on multiple charges.
Young's attorney, Gary Geisler, says that he is glad that Deonte got his day in court
Geisler has made a claim to the Illinois Crime Victims Fund to collect the judgment. He says it may take a very long time until they receive it all.
