TAYLORVILLE, Ill. (WAND) — The Taylorville Fire Department was called out for a huge house fire Tuesday night.

At 9:21, TFD responded to the 1100 block of W. South Street.

TFD was already on a fire alarm call at the YMCA when this call came in.

With three firefighters on board, the truck headed to the house fire and arrived within five minutes.

When the truck arrived, the wind was blowing at 27 mph, and the house was fully involved.

The Taylorville Fire Department said the high winds drastically fed the fire. The crew used a heavy defensive attack to protect the surrounding homes.

The fire was brought under control within ten minutes.

However, due to the extensive fire damage, crews remained on scene for approximately three hours overhauling and extinguishing hot spots.

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
