URBANA, Ill. (WAND) - Police arrested a 16-year-old boy in connection with a January shooting in Urbana that injured a teen.Â
The Urbana Police Department said the arrest took place along E. University Avenue in Champaign.Â
He was charged with aggravated battery with a firearm.
Urbana police said a 14-year-old from Rantoul was shot around 8:10 p.m. Jan. 29 in the 1100 block of Hill St.Â
Officers said the teen was taken to the hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.Â
The investigation found that the 14-year-old victim and another 16-year-old boy were sitting inside a vehicle on the street when two male suspects approached the vehicle and began firing multiple shots into it.
The 14-year-old was shot, while the 16-year-old was not injured.Â
