CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) — Champaign police are investigating after a 17-year-old was hurt in a shooting Tuesday night.
The Champaign Police Department said officers responded to an area hospital just after 11 p.m. after reports of a shooting that is believed to have happened in the 1500 block of Hedge Road.
Officers were told that a 17-year-old boy arrived at the emergency room after being shot in the hip. Police said he is in stable condition.
According to Champaign police, initial investigation showed that the 17-year-old was with a group of people, and as he walked away from the group, he heard gunshots and was hit. He was picked up by personal transport and taken to the hospital.
