MONTICELLO, Ill. (WAND) — Two Decatur men have been arrested in connection to a string of burglaries in Monticello.

The Monticello Police Department arrested 33-year-old Alexander Cuthbertson and 48-year-old Brandon Murray Thursday morning on multiple charges, including burglary, trespassing, and possession of methamphetamine precursors.

Murray was also on parole and had warrants for his arrest for retail theft and resisting a peace officer.

According to the Monticello Police Department, officers worked with several property and business owners in the area of the 1000 block of South Market Street due to ongoing trespassing and theft complaints.

Just after 3 a.m. Thursday morning, officers found a suspicious vehicle parked in a way it appeared the driver was trying to hide it. Officers established a perimeter around the property and used a drone to find and arrest the suspects.

Cuthbertson and Murray were transported to the Piatt County Jail, where a local judge will determine if they will be held.
