CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) — No one was hurt after a Tuesday morning shooting in Champaign.

A large police presence gathered near the Country Brook Apartments off of W. Springfield Avenue.

A WAND news crew saw multiple officers dressed in tactical gear, a SWAT vehicle and at least one person in handcuffs on scene around 6:30 a.m.

An officer at the scene said they responded to a shots fired call, but only found property damage. That officer also told our crew that SWAT was only called in as a precaution.

Tuesday afternoon, the Champaign Police Department told WAND News that officers saw a large crowd with multiple fights in progress after arriving to the 2500 block of West Springfield.

No injuries have been reported, but damage to property was seen in the area, including a car.
