SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - A Springfield man was arrested after police said he crashed into a squad car while drunk.Â
The crash happened New Year's Eve at the intersection of East South Grand Avenue and South 5th Street in Springfield.Â
According to a police report, witnesses said Albert Nacteta-Ngandjui ran a red light, hitting an officer in the squad car.Â
The officer was taken to the hospital for treatment, with the report stating that he had a concussion and a ruptured eyeball.Â
Nacteta-Ngandjui was charged wth an aggravated DUI causing an accident and significant bodily harm.
His next court appearance is Jan. 15.Â
