GREENUP, Ill. (WAND) - Cumberland County Coroner Steven Sherwood passed away Monday afternoon.
Sherwood was 58 years old and was serving his third term as Cumberland County Coroner.
He passed away on January 13, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, according to Meyer Funeral Homes.
Sherwood was from Greenup, Illinois.
Throughout his years, Sherwood wore many hats serving his community. He was a Paramedic for 35 years and was currently working with the Greenup Area Fire Protection District - Ambulance Service, as a Paramedic, Assistant Ambulance Coordinator and a former firefighter, on top of his Coroner duties.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM – Friday, January 17, 2025, at the Meyer Funeral Home – Bishop Chapel in Greenup, Illinois. A walk through for First Responders and Last Responders (Coroners) will be at 5:00 PM.
