DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The Decatur Fire Department was called out for two separate house fires Sunday.
The first call came in around 4:45 p.m. from the 1400 block of East Grand Ave. Firefighters found heavy smoke and fire coming from the front and side windows of a home.
They were able to quickly get the fire under control. One adult who was inside was able to get out safely. The American Red Cross was called in to help the person with emergency housing and services.
While crews were still at the first fire, a call came in for another fire in the 1000 block of West Decatur St. around 6:20 p.m.
Firefighters found an attic at that home on fire. Everyone had gotten out safely, and the fire was extinguished. That family was also displaced and is being helped by the American Red Cross.
No injuries were reported in either incident.
The cause of both fires is under investigation by the Decatur Fire Department Fire Prevention Division.
