DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — The city of Decatur announced the hiring of Melissa Hon as Deputy City Manager. Hon takes the position over from Jon Kindseth.
WAND News reached out to the city to learn when Kindseth left his position and under what circumstances. A city representative would only confirm that Kindseth was no longer with the city of Decatur.
Hon comes to Decatur from Bloomington, where she serves as Director of the Department of Community Impact & Enhancement. She's been serving the city of Bloomington since 2016.
“I am excited for Melissa to start. Her vast experience across the entire organization will be a tremendous asset,” said Decatur City Manager Tim Gleason. “Currently there are specific needs within the organization that she can make a positive impact on day one. Melissa’s return to a city manager’s office is where she belongs.”
Hon will start her new position in Decatur on Monday, February 24, 2025. Her annual salary will be $175,000.
