DANVILLE, Ill. (WAND) — On Wednesday night, the Danville District 118 School Board voted to name Assistant Superintendent John Hart as interim.
Hart will serve in the role while the Illinois Association of School Boards conducts a superintendent search.
During the meeting, Danville teachers voiced their support for a strong leader who can be present for staff and students.
"The lack of communication in the way we are handling the absence of our superintendent has failed our students." said one speaker during comment.
The board approved an amended employee agreement for current superintendent Alicia Geddis, which must be finalized by the state and the district's legal department. Geddis has not reported to school board meetings since the fall.
