SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) announced applications are open for the 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant competition.
ISBE said that the grant competition will provide an estimated $37.8 million in federal funding over the next three years.
The competition is funded through Title IV, Part B of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, the program that ultimately supports schools and other community organizations in establishing or expanding after-school programs helping students meet learning expectations.
"The 21st Century Community Learning Centers program helps schools and community partners provide meaningful opportunities that boost academic success and build stronger connections between students, families, and their communities," said State Superintendent of Education Tony Sanders in a press release.
The ISBE stated that the 2026 21st CCLC grant competition will provide $12.6 million in grants this fiscal year, and recipients can reapply for added funding for up to two additional years.
Applications are due by 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 24, and application materials and instructions are available online.
