Urbana High School ranked in top 40% of schools nationwide in new rankings

URBANA, Ill. (WAND) - Urbana High School was recognized among the best high schools in the country by U.S. News and World Report.

Urbana School District #116 said that UHS was ranked No. 184 among 984 Illinois public high schools and 4,682 nationally. That places them in the top 40% of around 18,000 schools ranked nationwide.

The rankings recognize schools with strong academics and college preparation.

"This recognition reflects the dedication of our students, educators, families and Urbana community. Our goal is to ensure every student has access to rigorous academic opportunities and a wide range of programs that prepare them for success beyond high school," said Urbana School District Superintendent Jennifer Ivory-Tatum.

UHS is the second area high school in the rankings, as Glenwood was named the 89th-best public high school in Illinois.
