DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — An FBI dive team has been in Decatur since Monday trying to help the Decatur Police Department recover evidence that was discarded in Lake Decatur. 

On Wednesday, Decatur Police Chief Brandel confirmed the search was related to two separate homicide cases.

The initial dive site will be on the Southeast side of Reas Bridge Rd., near the intersection of Reas Bridge Rd. and Sangamon Rd. 

Boaters are asked to stay away from the area for the safety of the divers.

On Tuesday, the FBI confirmed that their Underwater Search and Evidence Response Team "will continue to search until the evidence is found or they are certain they have exhausted all efforts for recovery."

According to the agency, it's possible that the team could be there through the rest of the week.

The Decatur Police Department is not releasing any more information at this time.
