(WAND) — 'Tis the season for giving, but unfortunately, sometimes that is sickness. This year, the Illinois Department of Health reports respiratory illnesses are increasing across the State, including RSV, COVID-19, and Influenza.
The IDPH Seasonal Respiratory Illness dashboard gives current views of the state's spread level.
As of Sunday, the State is at a moderate level of spread, with most of the hospitalizations being due to COVID-19.
The spread caused Memorial Health to implement restrictions at five of its hospitals. Since last Friday, the hospitals listed here have only allowed two visitors per patient who is not sick and older than 18 to visit at a time.
Many local urgent care clinics, physicians, and Emergency Rooms are seeing an influx of patients with norovirus. This is causing people to visit the bathroom more frequently with vomiting and diarrhea.
For norovirus, the illness should only last a few days and symptoms can be alleviated with Pepto-Bismol or Imodium.
