Urbana Pinewood Place shooting

URBANA, Ill. (WAND) — A man was hospitalized and a suspect was arrested after a shooting near an Urbana apartment complex Wednesday.

It happened just before 9 a.m. near Pinewood Place apartments, a supportive housing development for people with special needs.

The Urbana Police department said officers found a 54-year-old man who had been shot in the neck. According to police, he was alert, responsive, and able to give officers information about the incident.

The man was taken to the hospital. Urbana PD said his condition will not be released at this time.

Based on statements, officers developed a suspect description and determined the vehicle that was used to leave the scene. Police said they found the vehicle a short distance from the shooting.

Urbana police arrested 48-year-old John Webb, who is being held on a preliminary charge of attempted murder. 

The investigation is ongoing.
