URBANA, Ill. (WAND) — A 17-year-old boy was sent to the hospital after a shooting in Urbana early Saturday morning.

According to the Urbana Police Department, officers responded near the intersection of Kerr Avenue and North Cunningham Avenue around 12:45 a.m. for reports of 15-20 gunshots in the area.

Police said officers found several shell casings at the scene and saw damage to multiple vehicles and an apartment building believed to be related to the shooting.

Shortly after officers arrived, the police department said a 17-year-old Champaign boy arrived at the hospital after being shot in the incident. He was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

According to police, witnesses at the scene said a dark gray SUV sped away from the apartment complex immediately after the shooting. 

No suspect information is available, and the shooting is still under investigation.

Urbana police are asking residents in the area to review any surveillance or doorbell camera footage from around the time of the shooting.
