Boil order issued

ATWOOD, Ill. (WAND) — Two Illinois towns near Douglas County went under a boil order Sunday morning.

The Villages of Atwood and Garrett went under the boil order around 7 a.m., according to the Village of Atwood Facebook page.

The two towns are about 30 miles east of Decatur. Garrett is in Douglas county, while Atwood is in Douglas and Piatt counties. They are only around a mile apart from each other.

The Village of Atwood said there was a pump failure Saturday night at their water treatment plant, and samples need to be collected due to the system dropping under 20 psi.

The boil order is in effect until further notice, the village said.
