CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) – A Champaign couple is trying to get back on their feet after losing their belongings in a fire in a 12-story apartment building on Monday.
Ashley Stumpf and Gabriel Henderson were asleep when Ashley heard a smoke alarm and people screaming. The fire was already quickly advancing through their building.
Ashley tells WAND News that firefighters were able to save her two cats. The Urbana Fire Department assisted the Champaign Fire Department in fighting the fire. One person was injured, and no firefighters were hurt.
A GoFundMe account has been established for them.
