DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The Decatur Blaze held a food drive contest to help support local food pantries.

Teams from the Decatur youth hockey club donated the food for the contest, and the winner received a trip on the tour bus to a tournament of their choice.

The club raised over 4,100 pounds of food.

Decatur Blaze Assistant Coach Larry Schultz said activities like these are a point of pride.

"We pride ourselves in giving back to Decatur and the Decatur community. So what we want the boys to take away from this is just the fact that they need to be active in the community and give back," Schultz said.

This is the first food drive the club has held, but Schultz added that it will become an annual tradition.
