DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The Decatur Fire Department has promoted Tina German-Roberts to captain, marking the first woman to hold the title in the department's history. 

DFD said on Facebook that German-Roberts has served as a paramedic, a Dive Rescue Team member, a District 2 State Commander for the Illinois Firefighter Honor Guard, and the DFD's American Heart Association Site Coordinator.

In the coordinator role, German-Roberts teaches and coordinates all emergency medical education and certification programs. 

"Congratulations, Captain German-Roberts, on this well-deserved and historic promotion. We are proud of your dedication, leadership and service," DFD said in the post.
