ASHKUM, Ill. (WAND) — An Illinois State Police trooper was sent to the hospital after a move over law-related crash in Iroquois County Monday.
The crash happened on I-57 north near milepost 295 in Ashkum around 4:45 p.m.
According to ISP, the trooper was stopped on the shoulder with their emergency lights on, helping a driver. State police said a semi-truck did not move over and hit the back of the squad car, pushing it forward into the vehicle the trooper was helping.
The trooper was taken to the hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. Three other people involved in the crash were also taken to the hospital.
