BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WAND) — A man was arrested after police said he gave a pregnant woman abortion medication without her consent, killing her unborn child.
Bloomington police were called to a home around 7 p.m. Friday for a pregnant woman having a medical emergency.
After investigating, police said 31-year-old Emerson Evans administered abortion inducing drugs to the woman without her knowledge or consent. She started having medical complications and suffered a miscarriage.
Police found and arrested Evans on two counts of intentional homicide of an unborn child.
"We are again saddened by the alleged criminal actions which resulted in harm to others," said Bloomington Police Chief Jamal Simington. "It is my hope the mother involved in the matter fully recovers and has the resources and support of this strong community in the future."
The incident is still under investigation.
