SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - The Springfield Police Department is dedicating resources to ensure its officers are healthy inside and out.
Chief Joe Behl shared a new wellness initiative he put in place since taking over the department.
This will include updating the department's gym, launching a "Yoga for First Responders" program, bringing in culinary experts for healthy cooking classes and offering chiropractic care to officers.
Behl is also working to introduce a peer support program, and a comfort dog will join the department at the end of June to support officers and victims.
